April is Autism Awareness month and the Autism Walk Northland’s goal is to go beyond awareness by emphasizing acceptance, inclusion, and celebrating neurodiversity. All money raised by walkers goes directly to free autism programs and schools in the Northland. Doors open at 10:00 am, and the walk begins at 11:00 am.
Register your team today online or by emailing info@autismwalknorthland. Pre-registration is not required but allows teams to accept online donations. Walkers are invited to form teams or walk on their own. Teams may be organized around an autistic individual or a local autism program/school. There is no registration fee or minimum donation to participate. Pledge sheets are available on the website.
The Autism Walk Northland is a neurodivergent- and family-friendly event. The location is indoors in the Hermantown gym and the walk is on the accessible elevated track. Many of the walk volunteers are autistic individuals or family members and school staff. The 2024 walk will include vendors, face painting, and kids activities.
Each team or individual walker chooses which local autism program will receive their donations. Donations can also be divided among all programs. This walk is organized locally with the help of sponsors and volunteers–all money raised goes directly to the program it is designated for.
