The St. Louis County Depot is thrilled to announce the unveiling of a magnificent mural created by well-known, local artist Adam Swanson. This captivating masterpiece will grace the walls The Depot, adding vibrancy to the community. Depot Director Mary Tennis shared, “This is just the beginning of projects like this at The Depot!”
Last fall, The Depot made a call for proposals seeking a large-scale mural or mixed media installation that would celebrate and welcome all visitors, enhance the building’s visibility, and focus on concept of connections. Swanson’s proposal was chosen by committee as it stood out as a project that would connect with everyone, add a vibrance to the space, and really highlighted the shape of the building.
Adam Swanson is widely recognized for his exceptional talent and ability to transform ordinary spaces into captivating visual narratives. The mural by Adam Swanson at the St. Louis County Depot is a mesmerizing ode to pollinators, highlighting the vital role they play in our ecosystem and celebrating their beauty and importance.
The grand unveiling ceremony will take place on Thursday, July 13th, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The unveiling ceremony will be a momentous occasion, gathering art enthusiasts, community leaders, and the general public to witness the transformation of the 1977 rotunda portion of St. Louis County Depot. Attendees will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the awe-inspiring beauty of Swanson’s creation and engage with the artist himself, gaining insight into his creative process and vision for the mural. The unveiling event will feature speakers, performances, food & beverages, and engaging activities for attendees of all ages.
