Landscaping with Native Plants: Why and How with Cathy Wood
More than 80 percent of the world’s flowering plants need a pollinator to reproduce; and we need pollinators too, since most of our food comes from flowering plants. One out of every three bites of our food, including fruits, vegetables, chocolate, coffee, nuts, and spices, is created with the help of pollinators! Join us to learn about native plants and ways to start your own pollinator sanctuary.
Presenter Cathy Wood is the president of both the Arrowhead Chapter of Wild Ones and Duluth Monarch Buddies. She is a life-long gardener, first with traditional perennials in southern Wisconsin, transitioning to native plants for Duluth’s many challenges. Cathy lives on a half-acre city lot, which is certified as a monarch waystation, pollinator and wildlife habitat.
