Come join us making our simple pyramid shaped handmade tissue and bamboo lanterns! They are to be carried in the 6:45 pm DASN glow processional part of the evening on Saturday, Nov. 2 – headed east on Dylan Way. Light up the night together as community. Free – but donations towards materials and DASN gratefully accepted.
This will be messy, involving a lot of nontoxic, water-soluble glue – so please bring an art shirt to protect your clothing. (We’ll try to have some on hand as well.)
Our making will take place in the ticket lobby of the North Shore Scenic Railway. The lanterns will stay to dry there overnight. You can find and carry yours on Saturday, Nov 2nd evening up in the Library Plaza at the DASN procession start 6:45 after the Burning of Rotten Ideas!
Paula Williams will facilitate the making and distribution of lanterns.
Oasis del Norte will deliver if you would like a bite to eat. Stay if you wish for DASN Poetry in Studio 4, which starts at 7 pm. Friday, Nov. 1.

These 2024 activities are made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota thanks to appropriations from the Minnesota State Legislature’s general arts and cultural heritage funds.
The Arrowhead Regional Arts Council (ARAC) awarded us two grants in 2024, an Organizational Art Project for DASN materials and artist stipends and an Arts & Cultural Heritage to construct a giant, articulated, lantern moose with UK artist, Andrew Kim.
