Join Dave Pagel, long-time Duluth climbing advocate and a founding member of the Duluth Climbers Coalition, for a walking tour of Quarry Park. Dave will discuss the transformation of long-abandoned Casket Quarry (including why it’s called that!) into Duluth’s newest city park, complete with a range of hiking, disc-golfing, and climbing amenities. A focus will be the DCC’s state-of-the-art ice farming infrastructure for growing climbable ice on the quarry walls in winter, including a peek inside the well-concealed control center for the operation. This event is being held in conjunction with the Great Lakes Outdoor Summit, hosted by the Duluth Area Outdoor Alliance.
